According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Bola Tinubu and the standard of life for Nigerians are in competition for the general elections in 2027.

This was said Thursday by PDP Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum, who was giving a Certificate of Return to Ezenwafor Jude, the party’s candidate for governor of Anambra State.

“This election in 2027 is not about how many governors you have or how many leaders. It’s about Tinubu and Nigerians.

“The ordinary man is feeling the pain, and the decision is his. So I want to use this opportunity to tell Nigerians that it is their election. It is APC versus Nigerians.

“It’s not APC versus any governor or senator or anything but APC versus Nigerians. So I want to urge all of us to close ranks and rescue ourself from this hardship that is inflicted on us by design, not any coincidence,” Damagum said.

Damagun also discussed the defection of former State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Oborevwori, Okowa, and every cabinet member of the Delta State administration reportedly defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, on Wednesday.

The PDP leader claims that the party was too generous to Delta State and did not merit the political treatment it obtained as a result of the defection.

“It’s very sad and unfortunate because to me, if there’s any state that should think that way, not Delta, because the party is very magnanimous. I thank God that in their message, they didn’t say that the party did anything wrong to them other than good,” he said.

According to him, Delta State has received full support from the PDP over the years, starting with the election of the governor and continuing through his predecessor, who also served as their vice presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023.

“I think we’ve done it all for them in Delta State. We least expected this action from them. All the same, this is a party that has seen more than that, but it’s still standing,” he lamented.
