John Mikel Obi, a Chelsea hero, is hoping that his countryman Victor Osimhen would join the Blues this summer.
Last summer, Osimhen was on the verge of leaving Napoli for the West London club, but the deal fell through because of the forward’s wage demands.
Chelsea, who are anticipated to add a new striker this summer, has once again been linked to the 26-year-old.
The player is apparently also attracting interest from Manchester United, and a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia has not been ruled out.
Nonetheless, Mikel is excited to watch Osimhen play for his old team.
“He (Osimhen) wants to play for Chelsea. I hope he’ll be playing his football next season somewhere in the Premier League. I hope he comes,” the former midfielder said on punditry duties with Bein Sports.
“I know where we stopped with the contract. I know where we are. It’s an easy fix because we’ve done all the hard work last summer.”
