The Anambra State Government has expressed satisfaction with the promises made by President Bola Tinubu during his official visit to the state on Thursday.

Speaking at a town hall meeting held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka following the inauguration of key infrastructure projects, President Tinubu pledged to address erosion challenges in the state and improve road connectivity between Anambra and Kogi, among other developmental initiatives.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, said the visit achieved its intended objectives.

“Anambra State government wishes to express gratitude to Ndi Anambra for the rousing welcome given to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Dike Si Mba Anambra, on his historic state visit to Anambra State,” Mefor stated.

He added that the president’s assurances were in response to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s requests on behalf of the state. “The president promised to assist the state in addressing the erosion threat, reintegration into the national railway system, and restoring the state to the nation’s gas master plan,” he said.

Mefor also highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to completing federal roads linking Anambra and Kogi to enhance regional connectivity and reduce travel time between the state, the South South, and Abuja.

During the visit, President Tinubu commissioned the new Anambra Government House, the Solution Fun City, the eight-lane dual highway to the new government complex, and the Light of the Nation Tower.

Beyond policy commitments, the visit also sparked enthusiasm among the people of Anambra as the president appeared to affirm his support for Governor Soludo’s leadership.

With the state’s governorship election scheduled for November 8, and Soludo seeking a second term, there had been speculation about Tinubu’s possible endorsement of the APC candidate. However, his remarks about Soludo have been well received by the governor’s supporters.

“Your son, Soludo is my very good friend. He remains my friend and we will keep working together,” Tinubu said during the event.
