Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that he is fully aware of how to navigate the political crisis engulfing the state, cautioning his supporters against actions that could undermine the ongoing peace process.

Fubara made the remarks during a service of songs held in honour of the late elder statesman Edwin Clark in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

“Do not do things simply because you want to,” he said. “Do the things I want. I am the one wearing the shoes; I know the solution to my problem. I know how to walk through my problem. There are things you do that, rather than bringing peace to me, disrupt my peace process and cause me problems.”

The embattled governor urged restraint and discipline among his loyalists, stressing that some of their actions, though well-intentioned, have worsened his political situation.

His comments come in the wake of earlier statements where he expressed a sense of detachment from his role, declaring that he was no longer eager to return to office because “his spirit” had already departed from the position.

Fubara, along with his deputy and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a six-month period following the escalation of political tensions in the state. The president also declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and appointed a Sole Administrator to oversee governance during the suspension period.
