The 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has vehemently urged former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, to consider political retirement and refrain from issuing incendiary statements that could exacerbate tensions within Abia’s political arena.

In light of recent political developments in Abia State, Dr. Anyaso admonished aspiring leaders to exercise caution regarding individuals like Cosmos Ndukwe and his recent political affiliates—many of whom, he asserted, transitioned to the APC after 2023 for self-serving purposes.

“Having served as a previously unsuccessful and disillusioned chief of staff to a governor and a member of the assembly, Cosmos Ndukwe possesses a documented history of desperation in his quest for political significance, often inciting conflicts merely to secure self-interested positions,” Anyaso remarked.

Dr. Chima further proclaimed that “the unfortunate reality is that opportunities do not present themselves twice, particularly for someone who squandered his tenure as deputy speaker of the State Assembly while simultaneously attempting to navigate a suspended and unsuccessful presidential aspiration.”

“I initially hesitated to engage in a discourse with him, but his recent remarks were clearly aimed at me. Allow me to remind him that the people of Bende have moved beyond him. His political influence is now minimal,” Anyaso asserted.

“When the appropriate moment arises, we shall remind all of their true roles in the political landscape of Bende and Abia,” Anyaso concluded.
