NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Schedules Re-sit Examination for July

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects.

The examination was conducted nationwide from May 12 to May 23, 2025. Although the statement did not include a breakdown of the overall performance of candidates, NECO confirmed the results were released following the conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr Folake Olatunji David, who is also the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the conduct and processes leading to the release of the results.

The meeting was attended by selected secondary school principals from across the country as well as members of NECO’s management.

NECO also announced that the committee has approved the date and timetable for the 2025 BECE re-sit examination. The re-sit is scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025, and will cover Mathematics and English Studies.
