Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited Aisha Buhari, widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, in London following the former leader’s passing.
Shettima, who is leading a delegation of the Nigerian Government to London, also met with the children of the late President during the condolence visit.
Images circulating on social media capture the Vice President with members of the Buhari family, all appearing in a solemn atmosphere of mourning.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away in London on Sunday while receiving treatment for an undisclosed medical condition.
Buhari, who first served as Nigeria’s military Head of State before being elected as a democratic President, was known for his frequent medical visits abroad during his tenure. He spent at least 225 days outside Nigeria on medical grounds, including a 104-day stretch in London in 2017.
The Federal Government delegation accompanying Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday with the remains of the late President.
Buhari’s burial has been scheduled to take place the same day in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
