The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government of political hypocrisy over their reaction to the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued on Monday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC alleged that for nearly two years, the APC-led government had consistently sought to erase Buhari’s legacy while blaming his administration for current challenges. Yet, according to the party, these same individuals are now publicly mourning him.

“The party and the government that had done everything in the last two years to tarnish his records, dismantle his legacies, and blame him for every one of their failings are now posturing as the chief mourners at his burial,” the statement said.

The ADC described this as a display of “political opportunism” and cautioned against exploiting Buhari’s death for political gain.

The party further urged Buhari’s family and his supporters to remain vigilant and not allow his memory to be used for partisan purposes.

It called on Nigerians to remember the former President for his qualities of integrity, humility, and commitment to public service, stating that his legacy should stand as a standard for leadership across the country.
