Hannan Buhari, daughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared a deeply personal account of her father’s final moments, revealing that she gave him a final kiss shortly before his passing.
The former Nigerian leader died on Sunday in a London hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness. He was laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
In an emotional tribute posted on social media, Hannan expressed the pain of losing her father while reflecting on the love and values he imparted to her during his lifetime.
She wrote:
“The pain of your absence is immense, but I’m finding strength in the love you gave me. You’re the reason I know what unconditional love feels like. I thank Allah for giving me the opportunity to give you the final kiss. Alhamdulillah.”
The heartfelt message was accompanied by an image showing a handshake with her late father.
Hannan’s tribute adds to the outpouring of emotions and reflections from across the country as Nigerians continue to mourn the passing of the former President.
