Scores of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a show of solidarity with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central.
The mass defection took place at Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area, where Natasha personally received the decampees. The defectors included former Okehi Local Government Chairman Hassan Yusuf, Special Adviser to the council chairman Hajia Rafatu Haruna, APC stalwart Omuya Longman, and their supporters.
Addressing the new PDP members, Senator Natasha emphasized that grassroots engagement remains her core political strategy.
She stated, “My responsibility is to strengthen the PDP and bring more people into our fold. We are not only building PDP in Kogi Central but contributing to making the party a formidable force that cannot be defeated in free and fair elections across Nigeria.”
The Senator also expressed optimism about the growth of Nigeria’s political system, stressing that political parties must define their ideologies. She noted that when ideology is absent, parties resort to violence and intimidation to gain power.
Enemona Anyebe, the Kogi State PDP Chairman, described the wave of defections as a powerful endorsement of Senator Natasha’s leadership and growing influence in the region.
Would you like me to **make this into a punchier version for PUO-Reports’ headlines (for quick news readers)** or **expand it with more political context for a feature piece**? Or both?
