As momentum builds ahead of the 2027 general elections, a coalition of 700 youth leaders drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State have declared their readiness to purchase the governorship nomination form for Governor Dr. Alex Otti, urging him to seek re-election.
This resolution was reached during the maiden edition of the Abia Youth Leaders Townhall Meeting held at the JAAC Building in Umuahia. Themed “Repositioning Abia Youths for a Sustainable New Abia Project,” the event provided a platform for youths to engage with policy influencers and express support for the current administration’s developmental strides.
Speaking at the townhall, key panelists including Hon. Ubani Dannie, Mr. Chimereze Okoro, Hon. Victoria Onwubiko, and Engr. Chinedu Onyeizu encouraged young people to remain active in governance and entrepreneurship, stressing the importance of aligning with progressive initiatives that benefit their communities.
Mazi Iroy Orji, who moderated the endorsement session, stated that the gesture was a way to appreciate Governor Otti’s impact on youth development and state-wide transformation.
“The price for good work is more work,” he said. “Across the state, the enthusiasm among young people is overwhelming. We are proud of the Governor’s achievements, and the best way to show appreciation is to ask for continuity. As far as the youths are concerned, there is no vacancy in Government House come 2027.”
Representing Governor Alex Otti at the event, the General Manager of ASEPA, Mazi Ogbonnaya Okereke, thanked the youths for their unwavering support and assured them of the administration’s commitment to empowering the younger generation.
“This government has clear plans for the youths,” he said. “The New Abia vision is designed to reposition you all for success.”
Earlier in their remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, alongside the Special Assistant on Youth Development, commended the youth leaders for turning out in large numbers and for their consistent backing of Governor Otti’s reform-driven administration.
