The factional Interim National Chairperson of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, has asserted that the party remains the only viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as Nigeria moves toward the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, Usman urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for the party, describing it as the most people-centred among the country’s major political parties.
“We are committed to restoring national dignity, hope, and delivering people-centred governance,” Usman said.
The former senator expressed concern over the growing hardship facing Nigerians, noting that the current situation had reached an alarming level and required urgent political and economic redirection.
Addressing recent defections of party members to the APC, Usman dismissed fears of instability, stating that the Labour Party remained strong and resolute.
“Some of those who left the party never truly shared its vision. Their exit has actually brought clarity and strengthened internal cohesion,” she said.
She appealed to aggrieved members to reconcile their differences and work collectively for the party’s future, revealing that the Labour Party was set to embark on a nationwide membership revalidation exercise, congresses, and a national convention in preparation for the next electoral cycle.
