In what many have described as a rare moment of sincerity in Abia politics, Rev Dr. John Amah, a respected preacher with the Assemblies of God who is also the Sango District Superintendent of the Church and elder brother to the Abia State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Elder Amah Abraham has offered glowing praise and prophetic prayers for Governor Alex Otti, openly commending his leadership and calling him a “true servant-leader.”

Dr. Amah made the remarks while preaching during the funeral service of the late Engr. Israel Nweke, former Mayor of Osisioma Local Government Area. The service was attended by top stakeholders and political leaders from across the state. Governor Otti was represented by his Deputy.

During his sermon, Rev. Dr. Amah did not mince words in acknowledging Governor Otti’s performance, particularly citing the flag-off and ongoing construction of the Ohafia–Arochukwu Road — a federal road long abandoned by previous administrations.

“Although this road falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, you chose not to hide behind bureaucracy but took responsibility for the well-being of your people. That is uncommon leadership,” he said.

He further revealed that he had earlier raised concerns that contractors had left the site, and to his surprise, the Governor responded swiftly ,a gesture he described as a clear sign of responsive governance.

“Despite my insignificance in the political terrain, just a humble preacher, Your Excellency honoured my plea. That is not just leadership, that is statesmanship,” Dr. Amah said emotionally.

The climax of his message came when he offered powerful prophetic prayers for Governor Otti, declaring that “those who plot your downfall shall stumble and fall.” Other declarations included:
• “You shall not fall, and your light shall not go dim.”
• “Your government shall experience supernatural acceleration.”
• “Your second term shall not be a struggle, if it is the Lord’s will.”
• “Your family shall be shielded from every form of scandal or shame.”
• “Your legacy shall be generational, and your name shall be remembered for good in Abia State.”

Dr. Amah’s message is already stirring conversations in political circles, not only for its spiritual undertone but also because of his close family ties to the current PDP leadership in Abia. His boldness to acknowledge Governor Otti’s achievements and offer public support is seen as a significant shift in the political atmosphere of the state.

Observers note that while the PDP in Abia continues to grapple with internal strife and leadership crises, voices like Dr. Amah’s reflect the widening cracks and a growing wave of support for the Labour Party-led administration.

Governor Alex Otti, who assumed office in 2023, has received commendations from across party lines for his proactive governance style, infrastructure push, and people-centered policies.

With endorsements now coming from unexpected quarters even from relatives of opposition leaders the political tide in Abia may already be reshaping itself ahead of the 2027 elections.
