The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has played down the significance of his recent meeting with Labour Party factional chairman, Julius Abure, saying the details will become clear at the appropriate time.
Wike made the remarks on Monday during a media parley in Abuja while responding to questions about the implications of the meeting.
“You said Abure came to visit me. Of course, he is a politician, and I’m a politician. What is wrong when politicians meet each other?” the Minister stated.
When asked whether the meeting had political undertones ahead of the 2027 general elections, Wike declined to offer specifics.
“Why would I tell you what I’m planning for 2027? You will know when the time comes,” he added.
The meeting has sparked speculation about potential alliances and political strategies in the buildup to the next presidential election, especially given Wike’s history of influential political maneuvers and his ongoing rift within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
