Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed the newly formed ADC-led coalition—which includes some opposition elements—as “a journey to nowhere,” describing it as a weak alliance filled with “retired and spent politicians.”
Speaking during an interview with Arise News on August 5, 2025, Keyamo—also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC)—criticized the coalition allegedly backed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, asserting it lacks any serious electoral potential ahead of the 2027 general election.
Keyamo’s Statements:
“The ADC is in total tatters and they are on a journey to nowhere. It is a collection of individuals who have largely left the PDP, and even in the PDP, they were no longer relevant. They are ex-this and ex-that.”
He claimed Atiku is “waking retired politicians” in a desperate attempt to revive his political ambitions under the guise of a national coalition.
Despite mocking the opposition, Keyamo stressed that the APC is not complacent:
“Any politician who sees an opponent and laughs is a foolish politician… We are not resting our oars. We are focused on delivering the dividends of democratic governance to Nigerians.”
Background:
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) recently announced a coalition with various political actors and groups, fueling speculation about a united opposition front to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
While details of the coalition’s structure and leadership are still emerging, Keyamo’s remarks reflect growing APC pushback as early political alignments for 2027 take share.
