Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the opposition coalition and former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, has declared that he has never engaged in election rigging or sponsored thuggery at any point in his political career.
Obi made this assertion in a post shared on his official X account, where he firmly distanced himself from all forms of electoral violence, malpractice, and political intimidation.
“Throughout my political journey, I have never been involved in thuggery, the snatching of ballot boxes, or any form of electoral malpractice,” he stated.
He went further to challenge anyone with contrary evidence to come forward with their findings.
“I challenge anyone: conduct your investigations. You will find no stains of rigging or violence associated with my name,” Obi added.
The former Governor of Anambra State emphasized that fairness and civility have always been guiding principles throughout his political engagements.
“Ask those who have contested against me, none were ever denied their rights, framed, or falsely accused,” he said.
Obi’s remarks come amid increasing public discourse on political conduct and accountability within Nigeria’s evolving democratic space.
