The Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has urged Abians to actively support the promotion of primary healthcare through sustainable energy solutions.
Mrs. Otti made this call at the Amuvi Primary Health Centre, Arochukwu Local Government Area, during the commissioning of a two-kilowatt solar power installation. The project was implemented under her flagship initiative, the Safe Tent Care Initiative, in collaboration with the Office of the Wife of the Governor. It was sponsored by the Rachisols Foundation and installed by TUDO Energy.
Highlighting the critical role of energy supply in the smooth operation of healthcare facilities, Mrs. Otti noted that steady electricity enables medical equipment to function optimally, preserves vaccines and essential medicines at the right temperature, and enhances the overall quality of service delivery.
“This solar installation is more than just light; it is a pathway to health and healing for our people,” Mrs. Otti stated.
She reaffirmed her commitment to partnering with government agencies, the private sector, NGOs, and visionary individuals to support Governor Alex Otti’s mission of delivering impactful governance across all sectors in the state.
Mrs. Otti commended TUDO Energy and the Rachisols Foundation for their initiative, describing it as a significant and meaningful contribution to Abia’s healthcare system.
Speaking at the event, the UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Enugu, Mrs. Juliet Chiluwe, applauded the Governor and his wife for prioritizing the health sector and pledged UNICEF’s continued support to ensure the sustainable management of Abia’s healthcare facilities. She reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting Governor Alex Otti’s administration in ensuring that all citizens have access to quality healthcare.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Enoch Uche, lauded Mrs. Otti’s exemplary leadership in championing healthcare solutions for the vulnerable and for complementing the state government’s efforts to solarize all primary health centres.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Maureen Aghukwa, and the Executive Secretary of the Abia State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Kalu Ulu Kalu, praised Mrs. Otti for “giving light” to the people of Amuvi and urged caregivers to ensure the project’s sustainability.
In their remarks, TUDO Energy CEO, Mr. Toye Dudu, and Rachisols Foundation representative, Mrs. Sybiath Ajao, stressed that they partner only with administrations committed to good governance. They pledged to maintain their partnership with the Otti administration to deliver more impactful projects.
