A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayekooto Akindele, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the first “real politician” to lead Nigeria since the country’s amalgamation in 1914.
Akindele made the remark in a post on his official X handle while reacting to APC’s performance in Saturday’s bye-elections across several states.
He wrote:
“For the first time since 1914, a real politician is the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Tinubu leaving the country during the by-election is like a striker kicking a penalty and turning his back against the goalpost and the goalkeeper, yet he scored a magnificent goal.
TINUBU’s coalition won all the elections conducted yesterday.”
The APC secured the majority of seats in the polls, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also recorded some victories. The African Democratic Congress (ADC), however, failed to win any seat.
