The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificates of Return to seven winners of the National Assembly bye-elections conducted on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The ceremony was held at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with National Commissioners of the commission handing the certificates to the lawmakers-elect for both the Senate and House of Representatives.
Mr. Kenneth Ukeagu, National Commissioner supervising the South East, presented the certificate to Nwachukwu Emmanuel Chibuzor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra South Senatorial District bye-election.
Professor Rhoda Gumus, another National Commissioner, presented certificates to Ikpea Joseph Igiagbe, Senator-elect for Edo Central, and Igbinedion Omosede Gabriella, House of Representatives member-elect for Ovia Southwest, both of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
From the North West, Professor Abdullahi Zuru presented the certificate to Mukhtar Rabiu Garki, winner of the Bubura/Garki constituency in Jigawa State, also of the APC.
In the North, Mal. Kudu Haruna handed the certificate to Joseph Bagudu, elected to represent Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State under the APC.
For the South West, Professor Kunle Ajayi presented Certificates of Return to Elegbeji Adesola Yetunde Ayoola, who will represent Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State, and Oyekunle Fola Sunday, elected for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, both of the APC.
According to INEC, winners of the State Constituency bye-elections will receive their Certificates of Return from their respective Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on Friday, August 22, 2025.
