Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South senatorial district, Abba Moro, has said former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi could emerge as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) standard-bearer in the 2027 elections if he returns to the party.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Moro noted that politics is driven by interests and shifting alliances, making Obi’s return and possible candidacy a realistic scenario.
“In politics, nothing is certain. Two plus two is not always four. These are matters of interest. And when it comes to existential interests of communities within geopolitical zones, anything is possible,” Moro stated.
He disclosed that while the PDP as a party has not formally engaged Obi, discussions are already ongoing among individuals.
“As a party, we are yet to speak to Peter Obi; but some people are already talking to him, and he stands a chance of getting the party’s ticket if he returns,” he said.
Moro stressed that such conversations are driven by the belief that Obi, if widely supported within the PDP, could enhance the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
