Human rights organization De-Advocates for Justice (AJ) has accused the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, of waging a personal vendetta against activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement issued by its President, Comrade Israel Joe, the group demanded an immediate halt to what it described as “vindictive harassment” of Sowore.

Joe condemned the alleged attempt by the police to probe Sowore’s financial records, insisting it was part of a broader effort to silence dissenting voices.

“This is an antique of the ruling class to silence a patriotic activist, nationalist, Pan-African journalist, and businessman in the person of Comrade Omoyele Sowore through a counter-productive court process,” Joe said.

He further recalled facing a similar ordeal during the #EndHardshipProtest in Delta State, when he was detained for hours while police allegedly attempted to implicate him through financial investigations.

The group warned that it would mobilize civil society organizations to occupy the court in solidarity with Sowore if the harassment persists.

“We shall be there to either see justice done or observe the subversive collective will of the people,” Joe declared.

The warning comes amid growing concerns over civic freedoms and the treatment of opposition voices ahead of the 2027 elections.
