Former Senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabiru Marafa, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of betrayal and deepening disunity in Zamfara State.

Marafa, who disclosed his decision in a video message to his supporters, said he reached the conclusion after days of consultation with stakeholders across the state.

Speaking in Hausa, the former lawmaker alleged that the APC had failed its members both at the national and state levels, noting that the crisis in Zamfara had reached “its peak.”

He pointed to lingering divisions between camps loyal to former Governor Bello Matawalle and Governor Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, accusing the party leadership of failing to reconcile the factions for over two years.

“For more than two years, APC has been in crisis in Zamfara. Since Bala Buni took over from Matawalle, no meaningful reconciliation has been carried out. The party is split into two groups and the leadership has done nothing to address it,” Marafa stated.

He added that the lack of internal cohesion, coupled with what he described as betrayal of trust, compelled him to finally part ways with the party.
