Financial advisor and educator, Kalu Aja, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to set an example for citizens by taking his holidays in Nigeria rather than traveling abroad.

Reacting on his X handle to the Presidency’s announcement that Tinubu had departed Abuja for a 10-day working vacation in Europe, Aja questioned the practice of Nigerian leaders consistently vacationing outside the country.

“Why can’t the President set an example and holiday in Nigeria?” he asked.

The Presidency, in a statement signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Tinubu would spend his 2025 annual leave between France and the United Kingdom, before returning to Nigeria.

The trip has drawn criticism from some Nigerians, who argue that the President has developed an “excessive foreign travel culture,” with claims that he has already spent nearly a quarter of his tenure abroad.
