Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has petitioned the Police Service Commission (PSC), accusing senior officers of the Kaduna State Police Command of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

In a letter dated September 8, 2025, El-Rufai urged the Commission to initiate an immediate and impartial investigation into what he described as “unlawful and unconstitutional conduct” by the Commissioner of Police and some officers under his command.

“I am writing as a citizen of Nigeria and former governor of Kaduna State to formally lodge this complaint and demand an immediate, impartial, and exhaustive investigation into the unlawful and unconstitutional conduct of the Commissioner of Police and some officers of the Kaduna State Police Command,” the petition partly read.

The development comes amid a lingering standoff between El-Rufai and the state police command.

On August 30, 2025, the former governor and several opposition politicians were reportedly attacked by suspected thugs during a meeting in Kaduna. El-Rufai later alleged that police officers stood by while the assault took place, accusing the command of collusion.

Last week, reports indicated that the police invited El-Rufai and six senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous harm.
