PDP’s Ogidi Accuses APC of Weaponising Hunger to Weaken Nigerians
The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately weaponising hunger against Nigerians.
Speaking on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme on Wednesday, Ogidi claimed that the APC government has manipulated economic hardship to subdue citizens and influence political defections.
“APC has used hunger to weaponise the people, including members of the PDP. People are so hungry now. We all know why PDP members are defecting, but we have a strong belief they’ll come back,” Ogidi said.
He maintained that the ongoing wave of defections from the PDP to the APC was not based on ideology but on desperation driven by harsh economic realities.
Ogidi also dismissed speculations that the PDP’s forthcoming national convention, scheduled for November, might not hold.
“Some of these governors, senators, or whatever you call them don’t have patience, that’s the truth. Our convention is in November, less than three weeks away. Why think it would not hold?
“Yes, we are in court, but why lose hope that the court would go against the convention? If you have done the correct thing, the court will give you justice. So I don’t know why people are worried. I am not worried because we have followed due processes,” he added.
Ogidi assured that the PDP remains united and optimistic about its prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
