A group, PDP Advocates for Peace and Justice (PAPaJ), has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is on track to reclaim power with the emergence of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as its National Chairman.
Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, was nominated as the consensus candidate for the PDP national chairmanship by Northern elders and stakeholders of the party.
In a statement on Friday, the Chairman of PAPaJ, Dr Tom FredFish, commended the northern elders for what he described as a strategic move towards the rebirth and repositioning of the PDP ahead of the 2025 National Elective Convention in Ibadan and the 2027 general elections.
He said, “With Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, the PDP is on course for revival, rebranding, and a triumphant return to power. The journey to reclaiming Aso Rock in 2027 begins now, with unity, vision, and purposeful leadership.”
FredFish noted that Turaki’s emergence represents a new dawn for the PDP at a time when Nigeria is grappling with hardship, insecurity, and poor governance under the APC administration.
“It signifies a rebirth of hope and a strategic repositioning of the PDP ahead of the 2025 National Elective Convention in Ibadan on November 15–16, and more importantly, for the 2027 general elections,” he stated.
He described the development as “more than an endorsement,” calling it a “rescue mission” aimed at rebuilding the PDP into a cohesive force capable of rescuing Nigeria from economic decline and leadership failure.
FredFish also commended Northern PDP leaders for prioritising patriotism over personal interests, describing their decision as “a tone-setter for reconciliation, discipline, and proactive leadership.”
He expressed optimism that under Turaki’s leadership, the PDP would experience renewed stability, strengthened internal democracy, and revived grassroots structures that would restore public confidence in the party.
He urged stakeholders from other regions to emulate the Northern elders by embracing peace, unity, and consensus-building in the collective interest of the party and the nation.
