A governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress, Mrs Abimbola Olawumi, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to nullify the APC primary that produced Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s candidate for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.

In a suit filed by her legal team, Olawumi argued that her disqualification during the party’s screening was unlawful and violated Section 84(14) of the Electoral Act 2022. She is seeking an order setting aside her disqualification and preventing the party from excluding her from participating in the primary.

Olawumi insists she is a bona fide member of the APC who was initially cleared to contest, but was later removed without due process or fair hearing. She described the party’s action as arbitrary and inconsistent with both the Electoral Act and the APC constitution.

The matter is currently before Justice Peter Lifu at the Federal High Court. Meanwhile, Governor Oyebanji was confirmed as the APC candidate after polling 885 delegates across the state’s 16 local government areas during the party’s primary held in Ado-Ekiti.
