The Chairman of CAADES Group and founder of Chima Anyasọ Foundation, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyasọ, has visited the family of late Wisdom Okorie Akobundu, who reportedly died while in police custody in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Dr. Anyasọ said he was compelled to visit after coming across disturbing reports on social media concerning the death of the young man, a native of Ozuitem and a fellow constituent.

According to him, the deceased was invited by the police for questioning over undisclosed allegations but was allegedly subjected to severe torture that led to his death at the Bende Police Division.

While commiserating with the family during the visit to their residence, Dr. Anyasọ prayed for God’s comfort and strength to help them bear the painful loss, describing the incident as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the elder brother of the deceased, Mr. Okorie Festus, lamented that their family has always been known for integrity and good conduct in the Bende community. He called for justice to ensure that such a tragedy does not befall another innocent person.

Dr. Anyasọ was accompanied on the condolence visit by traditional and community leaders, including Eze Patrick Ude, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha (Olakuruome), Pastor Okechukwu Dike, Mrs. Arisa Okparaigbo, and several other notable personalities from Bende.
