Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has called for collaboration with the clergymen in the state to advance the government’s developmental agenda in the state and achieve his mandate of a new Abia.

Governor Otti, who was speaking at Government House Umuahia, during an enlarged meeting with some Pentecostal Ministers in the state, noted that as spiritual leaders, ministers of the gospel possess enormous influence over the moral and social direction of the society.

The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba said that God gave him a mandate of creating prosperity and lifting the people out of poverty, assuring that he is not distracted by the antics of the opposition.

“I want to assure you that God sent us here. And he gave us a mandate. And we remain focused. We are not even distracted by the opposition.

“When we were to come, we told Abians, weep no more because help is on the way. I believe that from what you can see today, you know that help has come”, Gov. Otti stated.

The Governor said that his administration is creating prosperity for Abians through reforms, infrastructural renewal and economic expansion. He said that Abia, being God’s Own State, requires collective responsibility from both government and the church to achieve the desired transformation.

He higlighted his modest achievements within the last 2 years and few months and urged them to let the people know that, “this is what is happening and this is what government is doing.

The state chief executive also called on the ministers to sensitize their congregants on the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards in the ongoing voter registration exercise, as well as continue to intercede for the present administration in order to strengthen democratic processes and delivering democracy dividends to the citizens.

In their speeches, some of the Pentecostal ministers including Pastor Amara Uwaeziozi of the Masters Vessel, Rev. Dr Uche Ume of Power World Ministries, Pastor Innocent Nkemjika of Deeper Christian Life Bible Church, Pastor Anny Ikebudu of House on the Rock among others, commended Governor Otti for the numerous transformative projects recorded across various sectors of the state’s economy, describing them as clear testament to the Governor’s commitment to repositioning the Abia state.

They pointed out some areas they would want the government to improve on, including the area of monitoring the people sent to enforce government policies as well as embarking on more sensitaisations about government’s programmes and activities, and encouraging people to participate in the ongoing voter registration excersise.

They assured the government of the full support and prayed God to cu continue to guide, protect and give the Governor the wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the State..

While appreciating the Governor for convening the meeting which is fostering closer synergy between the government and the church leaders, the gospel ministers pledged their sustained prayers, support and collaboration with the present administration in ensuring that Abia continues to flourish under Governor Alex Otti, even beyond 2027.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Apostle Kenneth Wiper was present during the meeting.
