Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has called for an urgent public hearing into what he described as the Federal Government’s failure to properly equip the military despite massive annual budget allocations for security.
Reacting to the worsening insecurity across the country, Falz described the situation as “a national security emergency.”
In a widely circulated video on Monday, he urged Nigerians to pressure their representatives through emails, calls, and WhatsApp messages to demand accountability.
Falz questioned why, despite “billions and billions” reportedly released for acquiring arms and ammunition, soldiers remain poorly equipped and vulnerable.
He referenced recurring ambushes on military convoys and the recent killing of an army general caught on video, asking:
“Why is the military still ill-equipped? Why are military convoys still being ambushed by these criminals? Why was an army general murdered on video?”
Calling for transparency, he demanded a public hearing broadcast live on TV and online, where explanations can be given about military funding, counter-terrorism strategy, and plans to protect citizens.
He urged Nigerians to unite in calling for an emergency hearing to address alleged equipment shortages within the military and broader security failures.
