New Nigeria People’s Party chieftain Buba Galadima says he would fully support U.S. President Donald Trump if his involvement would help stem Nigeria’s escalating insecurity.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Galadima reacted to the Trump administration’s warning that U.S. troops could be deployed to Nigeria over allegations of “Christian genocide.” When asked whether he would endorse Trump’s intervention, he said he would do so strictly to restore security, not for religious reasons.

Galadima described Trump as a businessman who applies pressure to extract strategic or financial concessions from governments, arguing that his actions are rarely about protecting any religious group. He cited past instances where Trump pressured Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for economic gains and suggested that similar tactics could be applied to Nigeria if President Bola Tinubu engages him effectively.

He said, “Not for the purposes he is talking about. But to come and secure Nigeria, I will vote for Trump 100 million times.”

Galadima added that Trump’s approach is transactional, saying the U.S. leader believes major powers like France and China are exploiting Nigeria and may seek his own leverage. He insisted that Trump’s pressure could shift if Nigeria’s leadership manages its relationship with Washington effectively.
