Rita Daniels, mother of actress Regina Daniels, has lost her bid to become President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. The election was held on Saturday during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State.

Rita was defeated by the AGN National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu, who will now succeed Emeka Rollas as the Guild’s President.

Yakubu received 116 votes while Rita secured 113 votes. Three ballots were declared void. His victory marks a historic moment as he becomes the first Northern actor to lead the Guild since its creation in the 1990s.

The election came only weeks after former President Emeka Rollas commented that Regina Daniels “needs help” and advised Rita to focus on her daughter’s well-being rather than pursuing the AGN presidency.
