The United States Congressional delegation has shared a positive update following its strategic visit to Nigeria, where it met with senior government officials to review the nation’s security challenges. The delegation arrived in Nigeria on Sunday and was received by the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen diplomatic cooperation on security matters. The discussions were driven by growing concerns in Washington about alleged Christian genocide and the need for improved stability across Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Monday, Congressman Riley Moore of West Virginia’s Second District described the meeting as productive and encouraging. He explained that the engagement included clear and practical steps that could significantly strengthen security for Nigerians if fully carried out.

Moore noted that the Nigerian government showed openness and a readiness to collaborate closely with the United States in addressing the country’s security issues. He emphasized that this openness must lead to real and visible results.

He also thanked President Bola Tinubu’s administration for rescuing one hundred Catholic school children. According to him, the release of the abducted children is a positive sign of the government’s growing commitment to tackling the security situation and reflects the intentions expressed in the emergency declaration announced by President Tinubu.

Moore added that the concerns raised by the United States were received with seriousness and urgency. He expressed optimism about progress toward a stronger cooperative security framework and highlighted the newly established joint task force between both nations as a promising development.

He acknowledged that more work is still required but affirmed that progress is being made. He expressed hope for continued engagement with the Nigerian government and ongoing open communication.

“Peace be with you all. God bless the great people of Nigeria.”
