Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has insisted that the Premier League title race this season extends beyond his side and Manchester City.
Arteta made the remark during his pre match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Wolves on Saturday night.
The Gunners currently sit at the top of the table, holding a narrow two point lead over second placed Manchester City and a three point advantage over Aston Villa in third. Crystal Palace are fourth with 26 points, while Chelsea follow closely in fifth place on 25 points.
Asked whether the title race is a straight battle between Arsenal and City, Arteta dismissed the suggestion, pointing to the tight nature of the standings.
“There are a lot of teams involved when you look at the table,” he said.
“We know the situation with other clubs as well.
“With Manchester City, it’s always the case that you expect them to have the quality that they have, the experience that they have in the competition. The focus has to be on what we have to do.”
Arteta stressed that Arsenal’s priority remains consistency and performance, rather than focusing on any single rival in what he described as a highly competitive season.
