Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, has defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Abaribe announced his defection on Wednesday in Enugu, shortly after the former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, formally joined the ADC.
The senator had joined APGA in 2023 after leaving his previous party to contest and win the Abia South senatorial seat.
Declaring his full alignment with the ADC, Abaribe described Peter Obi as his political leader.
“Let me also announce that I have resigned from the All-Progressive Grand Alliance.
“So as of now, I am fully in ADC. Following my brother and our leader, Mr Peter Obi, I wish all of us well, and I know that we’re going to get there,” he said.
