The Tanimu Turaki–led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has formally collapsed its structure into the Aaron Chukwuemeka–led faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
The development was announced on Friday by Robinson Nname Ewor, factional chairman of the Turaki-led PDP in Rivers State, during Wike’s visit to Ogba, Egbema and Ndoni Local Government Area.
Ewor, who had earlier accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misleading PDP members over his political strength against Wike, declared that the party was no longer divided in the state.
According to him, the decision marked the end of factionalisation within the PDP in Rivers State.
“Finally, before I go, I want you to know that I am Sim’s PDP chairman. Today, I am handing over that chairmanship and leadership of that faction to Aaron Chukwuemeka,” Ewor said.
He added that the party now operates under a single leadership structure aligned with Wike.
“PDP is no longer factionalised in Rivers State. PDP is under one chairman and under one leadership, under the FCT leader,” he stated.
The move signals a significant shift in the political dynamics of Rivers State, further strengthening Wike’s influence within the party amid ongoing tensions with Governor Fubara.
