Nkporo Community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State entered a new chapter of development as the Nkporo Unity & Technology Center, a landmark project executed by the Nkporo Development Union USA , was officially commissioned in grand style.

The commissioning ceremony was performed on behalf of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, by the Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area, Chief Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, who represented the governor at the historic event.

The project, conceptualized and delivered by Nkporo Development Union USA, has been widely described as a transformational investment aimed at positioning Nkporo youths for relevance in the global digital economy.

He reminded the governor of earlier commitments, including the construction of the Nkporo–Osso Edda Road and the establishment of a fertilizer processing plant in Nkporo, stressing that the road remains a strategic economic corridor linking Abia to Ebonyi and Enugu States.

Speaking on behalf of the diaspora, the President of Nkporo Development Union USA, Lolo Nnenna Dickson Okpan Agwu, said the vision behind the center is to ensure that Nkporo youths are not left behind in the fast-evolving global technology space.

She explained that the ultra-modern facility houses a 1,000-capacity hall, an additional 500-capacity hall, a large digital computer laboratory, a fully equipped e-library, and multiple multi-purpose offices. According to her, the center is designed to function as a digital training academy, vocational and technology hub, and an entrepreneurial incubation space for innovation and skills development.

Lolo Agwu appreciated Nkporo sons and daughters in the United States for their sacrifices and collective commitment that made the project a reality.

Also speaking, former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, a prominent son of Nkporo, applauded Governor Otti for honoring the community by sending a high-powered representation. He commended the governor’s achievements across Abia State, Ohafia LGA, and Nkporo in particular, noting that many promised projects have been delivered.
