Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly threatened to walk away from the national team and return to Turkey amid internal tensions at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Arise News, Osimhen was visibly upset following an altercation with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4 0 victory over Mozambique on Monday.

Despite scoring twice in the match from assists provided by Lookman, the 27 year old striker reportedly expressed anger after his teammate failed to pass to him in the 64th minute.

Osimhen was said to have gestured to the bench, requesting to be substituted, before he was eventually replaced by Moses Simon.

At full time, Osimhen reportedly stormed out of the stadium and dropped his accreditation card, insisting he was “done” with the national team and wanted to return to Turkey.

He was later calmed down by senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, who intervened to de escalate the situation.
