The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate release and transfer of Chief Mrs Grace Udensi and four others from the detention facility of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abia State Police Command.
Those affected by the directive include Mr. Ekea Udensi, Nmecha Udensi, Nnanna Offor, and David Ikpo.
Recall that Chief Mrs Grace Udensi and the four others have been in detention since January 2, 2026. On Monday, a Magistrate Court in Abia State declined jurisdiction over an application seeking to remand them in prison custody.
As at the time of filing this report, Chief Mrs Grace Udensi has been released and handed over to a special crack team of police officers dispatched by the Inspector General of Police for further administrative procedures.
Sources confirmed that a senior government official in Abia State attempted to halt the release, but the move was firmly resisted by police authorities, who cited the direct and unequivocal order of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
The development is expected to further shape the ongoing investigations surrounding the Okon-Aku Ohafia crisis, which has drawn national attention.
