Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello misuse power to witch-hunt political opponents.

Natasha made the allegation on Wednesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, shortly after the Federal Government withdrew cybercrime charges earlier filed against her.

Justice Mohammed Umar struck out the case following a notice of discontinuance entered by the prosecution on behalf of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).

Speaking to journalists after the court session, the senator said the withdrawal of the charges confirmed that the case was malicious and politically motivated.

She said the experience tested her faith but expressed gratitude to Nigerians, particularly her constituents in Kogi Central, for standing by her throughout the ordeal.

“The withdrawal of these two Federal Government cases against me only proves that they were maliciously instigated by two individuals — Akpabio and former Governor Yahaya Bello — who misuse power to their advantage in witch-hunting an innocent person, which is myself,” she said.

Natasha also thanked President Bola Tinubu, noting that the President was briefed on the matter and directed that the cases be discontinued.

“I’d like to extend a sincere appreciation to President Tinubu. He was briefed on the truth and ordered the discontinuance of the two federal government cases against me,” she added.

Reaffirming her confidence in the justice system, the senator said the development had vindicated her and would allow her to return fully to her legislative duties.

“I have never doubted that Nigeria is a land of possibilities and that the truth will always prevail. Now, I can actually rest and resume my work,” she said.
