President Bola Tinubu met with Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.
The meeting is taking place in the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Kano governor, dressed in white agbada and red cap, arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 4:10 pm.
The development comes amid widespread speculation over Yusuf’s planned defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
There are reports that negotiations have stalled over whether the ruling party would grant the governor an automatic ticket for the 2027 election.
Yusuf’s possible defection has dominated political discussions for weeks, deepening tensions between his supporters and those loyal to his political mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The meeting with President Tinubu is widely viewed as connected to the ongoing realignment talks surrounding the governor’s political future.
