Former Abia State Commissioner for Information, Barrister Eze Chikamnayo, has formally denied ownership or control of a Facebook account alleged to have published defamatory content against Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

In a Statement of Defence filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in Suit No. CV/3921/2025, Barrister Chikamnayo categorically disassociated himself from the Facebook handle “Iyierioba Chikamnayo,” which is accused of making several allegations of fraud and criminality against the Governor.

The former commissioner averred that he has never owned, operated, managed, or published any content on a Facebook wall bearing the name Iyierioba Chikamnayo, nor did he authorize any person to do so on his behalf.

He further stated that he is not the same person as “Iyierioba Chikamnayo” and denied making or publishing any posts described as offensive, injurious, or defamatory to Governor Otti, including posts allegedly published on various dates in 2025.

Barrister Chikamnayo also denied all material allegations contained in the claimant’s statement of claim and put Governor Otti to the strictest proof of the assertions made against him.

According to the defence, where certain paragraphs of the claimant’s suit relate to facts allegedly within the personal knowledge of the Governor, the defendant maintained that he was not in a position to admit or deny them, insisting that the burden of proof rests squarely on the claimant.
