Leaders from the four clans in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State have warned politicians that any attempt to steal or manipulate their votes in favour of losing candidates during the 2027 elections will not be accepted.

The stakeholders from Oboro, Oloko, Ibere and Ariam, alongside local government workers, made the declaration at the Ikwuano LGA headquarters during a strategic meeting.

Led by the Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Anthony Nwubani, the clan leaders insisted that their votes must count in 2027 and must not be manipulated or diverted under any circumstances.

They also rejected a statement attributed to a group of former Abia leaders claiming that Governor Alex Otti would be a one term governor, stressing that only the will of the people would determine the outcome of future elections.

The stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in Governor Alex Otti over infrastructural projects in their area and faulted opposition figures for describing the governor’s efforts as mere repainting of existing projects.

“Opposition is an ingredient of the political system, but it must be based on facts, not lies. It is incorrect to say that Governor Otti is only painting roads.

“Ikwuano people are angry with anyone peddling such a narrative. It is a slap in the face of Abians whose lives have been positively impacted by the governor,” Nwubani said.

The leaders reaffirmed their resolve to defend their electoral mandate in 2027, warning that any attempt to undermine the democratic will of Ikwuano people would be firmly resisted.
