The Nigeria Police Force has said it is still collating the names of victims affected by the recent mass abduction in Kaduna State.
Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigations into the incident were ongoing and that the public would be updated as more details emerge.
He said, “We are still collating names, but we have an estimate. This is an investigation that is actively ongoing.
“It’s not like we have CCTV camera in that place that can tell us what happened. The moment we have further information, we will update Nigerians.
“But for emphasis, we can confirm that the incident happened and we have deployed all our resources there.
“In fact, today we mobilised one of our helicopters to go there for air surveillance. That’s how seriously we are taking it.
“The IGP gave that directive this morning. Also the Commissioner of Police had to go there to supervise things himself.”
Hundeyin stressed that the police were treating the incident with utmost seriousness, noting that both ground and aerial surveillance resources had been deployed to support ongoing operations in the area.
He added that senior police leadership was directly involved in supervising the response to the incident, underscoring the commitment of the Force to rescue efforts and a thorough investigation.
