Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, CON, the Doyen of Abia Rejoice has paid a New Year homage to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, commending his purposeful leadership and reaffirming his support for the administration’s reform-driven agenda..
Dr. Ogah described the new year as a moment of reflection, renewed hope, and strategic recommitment to the collective aspiration of building a new Abia State founded on accountability, transparency, and people-oriented governance. He noted that Governor Otti’s administration has, within a short period, demonstrated clarity of vision and uncommon political will in addressing long-standing structural and institutional challenges in the state.
Dr. Ogah made this declaration on Tuesday while speaking with journalists shortly after a closed-door New Year courtesy visit to Governor Otti at his country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area.
According to Dr. Ogah, the strides recorded so far in governance reforms, infrastructural renewal, fiscal discipline, and restoration of public confidence are clear indications that Abia State is steadily reclaiming its path to sustainable development. He emphasized that these gains, though significant, represent the foundation of a broader transformation agenda that requires time, consistency, and continuity to fully mature.
Dr. Ogah therefore called on Ndi Abia, political stakeholders, and well-meaning citizens to rally behind Governor Alex Otti in support of a second term, stressing that continuity remains critical to consolidating the progress achieved thus far. He noted that interrupting a reform process at its formative stage often undermines long-term outcomes, while sustained leadership allows policies, institutions, and projects to deliver their full impact.
In the same vain, Dr. Ogah also pledged support for President Tinubu and commend his audacious reform programs.
He further stated that the call for a second term is not driven by partisan interest, but by a genuine desire to safeguard the emerging culture of responsible governance and ensure that Abia State and Nigeria as a country completes its transition from recovery to enduring growth and prosperity.
As the new year unfolds, Dr. Ogah urged all Abians and Nigerians to embrace unity, constructive engagement, and shared responsibility, noting that the task of rebuilding the state and nation transcends individual ambition and requires collective commitment.
Dr Ogah concluded by wishing Governor Alex Otti continued strength and wisdom in steering the affairs of the state, and expressed optimism that with sustained support and continuity in leadership, Abia State will record even greater milestones in the years ahead.
