The Progressives Governors’ Forum PGF has called for transparent and coordinated management of party congresses and the forthcoming national convention.
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State Hope Uzodimma made the call while presenting a communiqué following a meeting with the All Progressives Congress APC leadership in Abuja on Wednesday.
Uzodimma said transparency, consistency and accountability must guide every stage of the process to strengthen trust and credibility within the party.
He said: “These standards must apply uniformly across all states, including where the party currently has no governors.
“The PGF reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to party unity and internal harmony.”
The governor emphasized that responsible leadership, clear communication and collective discipline are critical to strengthening public confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
He reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures and advancing reforms that promote transparency, accountability and inclusiveness nationwide.
Uzodimma disclosed that the governors received a briefing on the national electronic registration and digital membership update presented by the APC national chairman.
“This has recorded significant growth, increased youth participation and integration of the National Identity Number,” he stated.
He noted that the initiative would support data driven planning, improve demographic insights and enhance grassroots engagement across communities.
According to him, the governors endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee NEC for the upcoming congresses and national convention.
Uzodimma commended the party leadership under the National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda for effectively guiding the process.
He also confirmed plans for strategic engagements and state visits aimed at reinforcing grassroots structures and strengthening party cohesion.
He said the visits would commence in Taraba on January 31 and formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau States into the Forum.
Uzodimma reaffirmed the Forum’s resolve to partner with the APC leadership in advancing national development, democratic consolidation and people centred governance.
He added that the governors appreciated the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, stating, “We will continue to partner with him to ensure good governance at all levels.”
