Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated February 4 and addressed to the Chairman of the Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
In the letter, the former governor attributed his decision to the persistent internal crisis within the opposition party.
Although Suswam did not disclose the political platform he intends to align with next, he has been linked to the coalition of opposition leaders who have adopted the African Democratic Congress ADC as their platform ahead of the next general election.
“I consider it honorable and necessary to step aside while wishing the party well should it one day find the courage and consensus to resolve its long standing issues,” the letter stated.
Suswam’s exit further adds to the growing wave of defections and realignments reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
