Chairman of the Policy Manifesto Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), John Odigie-Oyegun, has said the 2027 general elections will be a contest between Nigerians and their oppressors.
Oyegun made the remark on Friday during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television, where he stressed that the ADC represents a break from politics as usual.
According to the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigerians are yearning for genuine change, adding that sacrifices are being made across different segments of society within the ADC to achieve that goal.
“This time, we have a big message, a totally different message to coin. We have to start with an apology,” he said.
“Sorry we have disappointed you repeatedly. It’s not just about the last government alone.”
Oyegun also reacted to the wave of defections into the APC, saying the ADC would not be deterred.
“With the wave of defections into the APC, we are praying, and as a matter of fact, we will bring out brass bands if the rest also join the APC,” he said.
He added that such defections would only make the political choice before Nigerians clearer in 2027.
“The struggle for the future becomes very clear — it will be the people versus their oppressors, made up of so many governors and others,” Oyegun stated.
