Supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, have launched a grassroots mobilisation platform known as the Village Boys Movement as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The initiative is positioned as a counter platform to the City Boys Movement, associated with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and aimed at supporting the President’s re election bid.
The Village Boys Movement was unveiled in Abuja on Thursday by its convener, Maazị Tochukwu Ezeoke, who described himself as the “Village Headmaster”.
According to Ezeoke, the movement “represents a Nigeria that works before it earns and earns before it spends”.
He clarified that the platform is “not hostility toward cities” but rather a “moral contrast”.
“The issue is not geography but the source of wealth, the ethics of leadership, and the structure of accountability,” he stated.
The development signals early grassroots engagement efforts by supporters aligned with Obi as the political landscape gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections.
