The Umuahia South Chapter of the Abia Former Councilors Forum (1999–2022) has been formally inaugurated at its maiden meeting held in OHIACHA Ward, in a gathering described as well attended and strategic for grassroots political coordination.

The meeting, which brought together former councilors across the wards in Umuahia South Local Government Area, culminated in the election of a substantive leadership to pilot the affairs of the Forum.

Elected officers include: Hon. Akwara O’Neal as Coordinator; Hon. Nwukwa Chidozie as Deputy Coordinator; Hon. Obinda Chidiebere as Secretary; Hon. Nneoma Miriam Abali as Woman Leader; Hon. Chukwuma Mark as Ubakala Clan Coordinator; Hon. Enyinnaya Okonko as Umuopara Clan Coordinator; Hon. Nwogu Chinonyerem as Olokoro Clan Coordinator; Hon. Ikeri Kenneth Okechukwu as Financial Secretary; Hon. Marvin Nwabuisi as Welfare Officer; Hon. Emmanuel Apugo as Assistant Secretary; and Hon. Lilian Obiakara as Public Relations Officer (PRO).

A key highlight of the inauguration was the adoption of a resolution ratifying the earlier position of the Abia State Chapter of the Forum endorsing Alex Chioma Otti for a second term in office.

According to the Forum, the endorsement is aimed at sustaining what members described as the ongoing momentum of development and governance reforms in Abia State.

To actualize the resolution, members were directed to return to their respective wards to commence grassroots mobilization in support of the Governor’s reelection bid. They were also urged to sensitize eligible voters to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise in preparation for the next electoral cycle.

In a related development, Hon. Barr. Jerry Uzosike was unanimously elected as the Grand Patron of the Association.

The inauguration signals a coordinated political stance by former grassroots office holders in Umuahia South, reinforcing their collective engagement in the state’s evolving political landscape.
